Google and Amazon are releasing their own home cameras and doorbells with cameras. Journalists The Verge and CNET found that both companies could provide the police with copies of the videos without court permission or access. To do this, the police must send an “emergency request”.
Amazon responded to 11 such requests last year. Google does not disclose hit statistics.
Representatives from Apple, Arlo, Wyze and Anker said they would only grant access to the video upon presentation of a warrant or court order.
