After 62 years, Tetra Pak chooses to leave Russia. The sanctions against the country make it impossible for the packaging giant to conduct its business,

“The cumulative effect of export restrictions to Russia has led to an unsustainable supply chain, resulting in the company having no other option but to leave the country,” writes Tetra Pak in a press release that Sydsvenskan reports on.

Tetra Pak, which was founded in Lund in 1951, states that it has now reached an agreement to sell its remaining operations in the country to a local player.

Last year, Tetra Pak’s operations in Russia had a turnover of approximately EUR 430 million, corresponding to approximately SEK 4.5 billion.
