In his latest edition of the Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman talks about the new M2 Macs he expects Apple to introduce during this new processor cycle. With that in mind, the journalist talks about the variants of the M2 chip that Apple is likely to introduce in the next few months: Pro, Ultra, Max, and Extreme.

According to Gurman, these are the devices and chips we might see in the following Macs:

Mac mini M2. M2 Pro Mac mini. M2 Pro and M2 Max 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme Mac Pro.

Rumors of a new Mac mini have been around for a long time. At this point, it’s unclear when Apple plans to introduce the next generation or when it will retire its Intel counterpart.

For Apple’s next generation of MacBook Pros, it makes sense to upgrade them with the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. Since the company has just announced an entry-level MacBook Pro that looks exactly like the 2020 model but with an M2 chip inside, Apple will need to update the 14-inch and 16-inch variants in the near future, which have a new design and more ports.

Last but not least, Mark Gurman believes that this cycle will see a Mac Pro with M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme chips. It’s important to note that Apple has teased in the past that the company is working on a new Mac Pro, but hasn’t said anything else since.

Interestingly, the journalist does not mention the 24-inch version of the iMac M2. On the other hand, Gurman has already revealed that Apple is working on the iMac M3, which means that this product may skip the current generation of chips and only get an update next year.
