A few weeks before the start of Gamescom 2022, Geoff Keighley tweeted the opening show, which will be held the evening before the start of the fair.

Earlier this year it was confirmed that Gamescom will return in August 2022 – as hybrid events with visitors on site and shows that are broadcast over the internet.

The event will once again be held in Cologne from August 24th to 28th, 2022. And a few weeks before the start of the local games fair, more and more details about the event are penetrating. For example, host and producer Geoff Keighley draws attention to Opening Night Live. It’s a show that’s used repeatedly to open Gamescom.

Opening Night Live on August 23rd

On Twitter, Keighley reconfirmed that the show will air on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 — the eve of Gamescom 2022. Expect “a night of game announcements, world premieres,” and more, according to the moderator, about what will once again be a physical event with an audience in attendance – albeit on a scale adapted to the pandemic.

Ticket sales for Gamescom 2022 will start in June 2022. It quickly became clear that visitors would have to dig a little deeper into their pockets this year. On Saturday and Sunday, 30.50 euros are due without a reduction. On Thursday and Friday it is up to 25 euros. Take a look at the price overviews you can throw in this message.

Companies such as Microsoft, Bandai Namco and Ubisoft have confirmed their participation in Gamescom 2022. Nintendo and Sony, on the other hand, announced a long time ago that they would not be taking part in the fair. Also electronic arts is not there.

Officially, the organizers speak of over 500 registered companies. Further details are on the official website of the fair summarized.
