One of Apple TV+’s most anticipated films, The Flower Moon Killers, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, will debut in theaters and on the streaming platform next year, according to Deadline.
The adaptation of the novel of the same name was directed by Martin Scorsese. In addition to DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons also took part in the project.
Streaming service Apple TV+ acquired the film in 2020 from Paramount for a record $200 million. As part of the deal, Paramount will continue to help distribute the film to theaters.
The Flower Moon Killers was originally expected to premiere later this year in order to be included in the list of nominees for the 2022 Academy Awards. Not surprisingly, the film’s release had to be pushed back, as Scorsese is known for his attention to detail in post-production.
Deadline expects the film to premiere in May 2023 at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. This will be followed by a wide theatrical release, and later, Killers of the Flower Moon will be available to Apple TV+ subscribers.
