We have previously tested portable speakers from Soundcore, where we have been very satisfied with the results. They have excelled sonically and had a lot of fun features. Now it’s time to put their Anker Life P3 headphones under the microscope.
Rating 4 out of 5
Opinion
A pair of headphones with active noise reduction under 1,000 kroner are usually affected by a rickety sound. But the fact is that Soundcore’s Anker Life P3 sounds really good, has a perfectly fine fit and an app that lets you set the sound in more detail.
Positively
- Heavy bass
- Nice fit
- Good app
Negative
- Sensitive touch control
- Turned on too much bass
Anker Life P3 is a pair of true wireless earphones with a tip, which houses a speaker element, which goes into the ear and a small shaft that houses playback controls and microphones. In other words, a well-proven design like so many other planks from Apple. These are slightly larger than a pair of Airpods Pro, but we’re talking millimeters, they weigh basically nothing.
Included in the package are five pairs of silicone tops in different sizes.
The included charging case is charged via USB-C and is enough to give you around 35 hours of playing time, but then you play music without noise reduction. The headphones themselves last up to seven hours depending on how you listen. Three small LED lights show how much charge is left in the case.
The headphones are ready for pairing the first time you use them. A hot tip is to download the app first. It does work without it, but you can set how you want the controls to work and do a test to make sure they sit well in your ears.
A couple of clicks in the settings in IOS (or Android) and you’re up and running.
Equalizer and much more
The ability to adjust the controls is appreciated. You can choose to disable certain taps, choose whether the right or left earpiece should do certain things and much more. There is also an eight-band equalizer, where you can fine-tune the sound. There are also a number of preset modes, which can be supplemented with a bass boost. There is also a dedicated audio mode for those who like mobile games.
As I said, the playback controls can be adjusted, but it’s always a pain with touch controls. As soon as you have to adjust the headphones, you risk pausing or skipping ahead in the playlist. It’s a matter of habit, but Apple’s Airpods, with their click control, are still the best option.
In the app, you can also choose between three noise reduction modes: transport, which dampens engine noise and similar frequencies. Indoors that reduce sounds in the mid-range and outdoors that filter out typical outdoor sounds, such as traffic and more. There is also a transparency mode.
The problem is that there is not much that separates them. All work well, but there is no major difference between the different modes.
The sound
The two most important functions are still fit and sound. Thanks to the different sizes and the automatic adjustment, the former is not a problem. The headphones sit comfortably, even for longer periods. The sound is powerful to say the least. The bass is almost too intense, but luckily you can adjust the sound really well in the app.
On phone calls it also sounds great and the person listening to what you are saying will not have any complaints about the sound. This is thanks to six small integrated microphones that filter out disturbing noise.
Overall, the Soundcore Life P3 is a very affordable option. There are headphones that cost twice as much and don’t have the same sound quality at all. This together with a relatively low price means that we can safely recommend these.
