Sony has presented more features related to the user experience of the new PlayStation VR 2 on the official PlayStation Blog. You can find out what it’s all about here!
The release of PlayStation VR 2 is getting closer and to prepare players for it, Sony has now announced more details about what virtual reality gamers can expect on the PS5 – after all, they also want to heave virtual reality into the next generation. In this context there will also be new functions around the user experience.
First of all, the new pass-through view with the headset on was presented, which allows you to see your surroundings. If you are looking for the PSVR2 Sense controllers in the room, you do not have to take off the VR headset first. Thanks to PSVR2’s built-in front cameras, you can press the function button on the headset or use the map in Control Center to switch between viewing the environment and viewing PSVR2 content. The map in Control Center also provides quick access to other PSVR2 settings, such as customizing the play area.
Meanwhile, a broadcast feature, also new, allows you to film yourself as you play by connecting a PS5 HD camera to your console. You can also record and share your movements and reactions during a boss fight, for example.
The play area for PSVR2 can be customized using the Sense controller and the integrated cameras. You can use the cameras to scan the room and use the PSVR2 Sense controllers to expand the play area and customize it to suit your own play style and room environment approaching the boundary of the play area. You can change your settings at any time.
Last but not least, the VR mode and cinema mode were discussed in more detail. In VR mode, you can enjoy VR game content in a virtual environment in a 360-degree view. Content is displayed in HDR video format with a resolution of 4000 x 2040 (2000 x 2040 per eye) and a frame rate of 90Hz/120Hz.
In Theater mode, the PS5 system and user interface as well as all non-VR mode content and media content are displayed on a virtual cinema screen. In cinema mode, content is displayed in HDR video format with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and 24/60 Hz and a frame rate of 120 Hz.
