iOS 16 beta 4 is here, and it includes several notable updates to new features in the Messages app. iOS 16 introduced the ability to edit and undo iMessages for the first time, but with some limitations. iOS 16 beta 4 further tightens these restrictions.
These changes are likely in response to concerns about the ability to edit and unsubmit messages. Apple has not directly addressed this topic, but these changes are clearly intended to address these issues.
In iOS 16 beta 4, you can now only edit a post five times. In addition, each change is logged and made visible to both the sender and recipient of the iMessage. This means that the person you send the message to will be able to see any changes you make. Once you reach the five edit limit, the “edit” option will disappear from the long press menu.
In addition, iOS 16 Beta 4 also reduces the time it takes to unsend an iMessage. In previous releases of iOS 16, you had 15 minutes to unsend a message. With today’s update, this time interval has been significantly reduced to two minutes. However, you have 15 minutes to edit your post.
