The increase in Amazon Prime prices is coming at the start of the school year, but solutions exist to keep the old prices as long as possible.

The news fell this week. While the platform had so far been spared from price increases, Amazon Prime recently announced a substantial increase in prices, at a rate of +43% on the final invoice. From the start of the school year in September, the annual subscription will increase from €49 to €69.90resulting in particular in some modifications concerning the conditions of access to the Pass Ligue 1. However, solutions exist to still benefit a little from the old tariff.

Subscribe until September 14

The Amazon Prime price increase will take place on September 15. Which means that in subscribing to an annual offer before this date, you will be able to take advantage of a one-year Prime subscription at €49. By going to the checkout on September 14, you will thus benefit from a full year of subscription, the latter will not be renewed until one year later, this time at the new price.

The maneuver is simple but it will still allow you to save €20 a year. If you do not wish to renew your subscription after one year at a reduced rate, it is also possible activate an alert, which will slip into your mailbox three days before the renewal of the contract. A good way not to miss the boat by stacking up for another year.

How do I unsubscribe from Amazon Prime?

If the new tariff imposed by Amazon has still not convinced you, it is also possible to unsubscribe immediately. Remember that for the past few weeks, the platform pinned down by the European Commission has had to make the disengagement procedure much simpler. From now on, you just have to go to the page “Your account” > “Prime”. From the “Update, cancel and more“, an option will then allow you to select “End subscription and benefits“. All services billed in advance will remain accessible until their due date, but the subscription will not be renewed.

Remember, however, that even billed at nearly €70 per year, the subscription AmazonPrime remains much more affordable than that of Netflix, which can climb up to €17.99 per month for its premium offer, or just over €215 annually.
