iOS 16 beta 4 – here’s what’s new

iOS 16 beta 4 developer beta 4 brings new features that we tested on editorial iPhones and here’s what we have.

iOS 16 beta 4 came out 3 weeks after the release of the previous iOS 16 beta 3 and again we see positive changes. In the fourth beta of iOS 16, Apple took into account the wishes of numerous testers of both the beta version and the first public iOS 16.

What’s new in iOS 16 beta 4

iMessages in iOS 16 can now be edited for a short time after being sent multiple times:

• During the first 15 minutes after sending, you can make up to 5 changes to the message. After that, you will no longer find the item “Change” in the drop-down list. The receiving party will see the word “Changed” at the bottom under the edited message.
• Within 2 minutes after sending the message, you can cancel it and it will be deleted from the receiving party. To do this, in the drop-down menu (appears when you press your finger on the message), click on “Cancel sending”, and not try to delete the message. If you delete the message “the old fashioned way”, then it will be deleted only from your iPhone, and the message will remain with the receiving party. In place of the canceled message on the sender’s iPhone in Messages will be the text “You canceled the message.” The receiving party will also be notified that you deleted some message (this could not have been done).
• Now you can take and mark the message as unread. This is so that the owner of the iPhone does not get confused who will have to answer as time appears for this.

• iPadOS 16.0 beta 4 (Build 20A5328h)
• tvOS 16.0 beta 4 (build 20J5344f)
• HomePod OS 16.0 beta 4 (Build 20J5344f)
• macOS Ventura 13.0 beta 4 (Build 22A5311f)
• Xcode 14 beta 4 (build 14A5284g)

The final versions of all firmware will be released in September 2022. The exact release date will be announced at the Apple presentation, which is scheduled for September.
