Three weeks after the launch of the third iOS 16 beta, Apple is releasing the fourth beta. This release is launching a couple of weeks after the first public beta, as well as a patched developer release. With this update, we can now see how Apple implements some of the feedback it has received from users over the past month.

Today’s build is 20A5328h. The latest iOS 16 beta brought a number of changes, including updates to the lock screen, new wallpaper options, and more.

Each new iOS 16 beta is likely to bring a significant amount of changes, bug fixes, and even new features. Apple closely monitors the feedback it receives from iOS 16 beta testers, and each subsequent beta release is directed towards complaints, bug reports, and performance issues.

In the iOS 16 beta, Apple is putting a lot of emphasis on its new lock screen. You can customize the font, color, or layout of items on the lock screen by tapping an item. There are new font styles and color choices that allow you to customize the appearance of the date and time.

Widgets and the new API allow users to add third-party widgets to their lock screen. For example, in a future update, Live Activity will show current sports games or track the progress of your Uber ride.

Messages has three major new features that users can take advantage of in iOS 16 beta 4:

Edit message: within 15 minutes, users can make up to 5 edits to this message, and recipients will be able to see a record of the edits made to the message; Unsend: Unsend any message within 2 minutes of sending it; Mark as unread. Mark messages as unread if you don’t have time to reply but want to be sure to reply to the sender later.

With iOS 16, Apple introduces FaceTime Handover, which allows you to seamlessly transfer calls from iPhone to Mac or iPad and vice versa. The company is also adding Live Captions to FaceTime, allowing you to see automatically transcribed conversations integrated into your video calls.

Along with iOS 16 beta 4, Apple is also releasing iPadOS 16 beta 4, watchOS 9 beta 4, macOS 13 Ventura beta 4, and tvOS 16 beta 4.
