The dominant position of X86 architecture chips in the server market has been further loosened. Recently, HPE officially released server products equipped with Ampere’s Arm architecture CPU.

HPE executive Neil MacDonald said,The company is the first major company in the server industry to formally bet on Arm architecture products. The server, named ProLiant RL300 Gen11, is scheduled to start shipping in March this year..

According to MacDonald, the server will provide low-power and scalable solutions for mainstream cloud computing business scenarios, and will form a synergy with the company’s existing X86 architecture servers, which are mainly for the traditional enterprise IT market.

Public information shows that Ampere’s Arm-based CPUs have also been used in public cloud vendors such as Microsoft and Oracle.
