Spongebob Squarepants in Minecraft’s New DLC – Nintendo Switch

In writing, we are a fan of Square SpongeBob – or rather there is at least one! Bob, Patrick, Sandy, Carlo or Plankton have now entered popular culture, going far beyond the framework of simple animated series for children. If you don’t know yet or not really, we invite you to watch the first seasons of this cult series which has survived the years and which is still in production. over 23 years old after the first episode aired. The delirious, absurd and poetic universe created by Stephen Hillenburg (Sadly, now gone…) is rich and gave unforgettable episodes such as Sculptures on bubbles, The day of opposites, The ghost of Carlo, The driver’s license, The employee of the month, The prank buses or even (to speak only of the episodes of the first season.) Of course, over the years, this universe has been adapted into a video game with more or less success, even if so far no game has ever really succeeded to pay homage to him. So, when we learn that fans of the series have created a special DLC for Minecraftwe are downright excited and we are all ready to sing “it’s the most beautiful day” (or rather, there is at least one who is)!

Spongebob is coming to Minecraft!

Depending on how long you’ve been playing Minecraft, you might know a thing or two about what’s going on under the ocean biome. Are there any fish? Sure. Treasure chests? Sometimes. Kelp? Absolutely. But there was no pineapple, no crab cakes, and certainly no SpongeBob. But today, thanks to Nickelodeon and Spark Universe, everything will change: because a new DLC SpongeBob* is coming to Minecraft!

If you’ve always wanted to take a stroll through Bikini Bottom, stop by Krab Crispy and maybe even hop on one of Mrs. Puff’s Boating School boats for a spin – now it’s possible! In this immersive DLC, you’ll dive into the world of SpongeBob like you’ve never seen it before. Drift through bouldery jellyfish fields, enter Spongebob’s pineapple house, visit Sandy’s Dome, or relax in a boulder reef cinema while exploring this expansive map. You’ll also be rewarded for your curiosity, as on your travels you may find collectibles and items that will help you in your all-important mission: to help SpongeBob make everyone’s day at home. Bikini Bottom the best day ever!

Alongside SpongeBob, you’ll defend the Crunchy Krab from a horde of hungry anchovies, put your building skills to the test for Patrick, help Sandy master the explosive powers of the red stone, battle the towers of Plankton And much more ! Jump, race, bust, and build your way through six epic quests, including a combat-based mini-game that will have you flipping defensive burgers like a pro.

BEST DAY EVER BUILD CHALLENGE

We were so inspired by SpongeBob’s mission here at Minecraft HQ that our small group of writers decided to pay homage to him, and because as a yellow sponge so wisely sang, “F is for friends doing stuff together”, we thought there was no better way to celebrate the launch of this epic new SpongeBob SquarePants DLC than with a building challenge! Tasked with creating something that will make each other’s day the best day ever, four writers set out on a mission, and we built!

Sofia Dankis wanted a potato bath for her happiest day. Per Landin couldn’t choose between dogs and boat rides, so he asked for both! Cristina Anderca asked for a pizza in the forest and I, Sophie, asked for the squarest ice cream ever seen on the beach. So just like us, you’ll team up with Spongebob to make the people of Bikini Bottom happy, we’ve teamed up to build happy things for each other! Did we succeed? You can be the judge!

And because the celebrations shouldn’t stop there, we’ve also asked our wonderful community to create some SpongeBob-inspired builds too! Check back soon for the winners.
