Recently, AliExpress closed the opportunity for Russians to pay for purchases in dollars through Qiwi, which made it possible to save 15-20% of the price. Due to restrictions in accepting payments, problems arose, and not only with Qiwi, but also with other payment systems and banks, even if you pay in rubles.
The life hack with Qiwi payments worked only in the old version of the AliExpress mobile app for Android. Apparently, AliExpress could not just take and limit the acceptance of money through Qiwi – the money reached the site, but then the orders were automatically canceled, and the funds were returned to the buyer a few days later.
The order was canceled, although it was paid in rubles, not dollars
Now the same thing happens in the old version of the application with any payments, not even through Qiwi. The bank writes off the purchase amount, the funds are sent to AliExpress, but then the order is canceled. The money will be returned to the same card with which the payment was made, but not immediately. (“Tinkoff”, if you paid through it, will not even write them off to your pocket as a commission.) The return period is usually up to 10 business days, but it can be extended depending on when AliExpress returns the money to your bank.
If you planned to make a large purchase, and you do not have the funds to repeat the order again to replace the canceled one, you will have to wait for the return. This will take several days, during which the price may increase and the item may be sold out. Do not use the old version of the application! To avoid this problem, update the AliExpress app to the latest version or pay online.
