It’s no secret that the Backbone One is one of the best mobile game controllers you can buy. Therefore, it is not surprising that the company, in collaboration with Sony, has released a PlayStation version of its accessory for the iPhone. The new Backbone One – PlayStation Edition features the same two-tone black and white design as the standard DualSense controller.
The layout of the controller elements has not changed. As before, there are dedicated buttons for launching the Backbone app and capturing gameplay. It also retained the asymmetrical stick layout found on the standard model. On the bottom of the device is a Lightning port and a jack for connecting a pair of wired headphones to an iPhone.
Most of the most notable changes that Backbone has made for PlayStation fans have to do with improvements to the companion app, which will be available to all Backbone One owners. The new offline mode allows you to use the app without first connecting your controller to your iPhone. This makes it easier to find new games and chat with friends between gaming sessions.
Backbone has also added new PlayStation-specific integrations, including a dedicated bar that displays new releases and new releases from Sony.
Backbone One PlayStation Edition can be purchased at site companies for $99. Like the standard model, it comes with a one-year free trial of Backbone+, which in turn includes free trials. Apple Arcade, Discord Nitro, Stadia Pro and, most interestingly, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The Android version of the controller will arrive in the fall.
