A year ago, Ubisoft employees and ex-employees had one open letter Sent to senior management – including CEO Yves Guillemot – asking for changes to the unacceptable working conditions demanded in the company. The group is under the name “A Better Ubisoft” known and have already been able to gather many votes behind them with a petition. Now was the first time taken stockwhat has happened in the last twelve months.
Disappointing interim result
Via Twitter the group has confirmed that those in charge of Ubisoft til today none of the four main requirements implemented. As a result, several employees left the company. According to numbers from A Better Ubisoft are 25% of the people who were still part of the open letter a year ago have now switched to another employer. Another statistic makes it clear that disproportionate number of women end their time at Ubisoft.
In the evaluation of A Better Ubisoft states that overall 60% the last dropouts he/him pronoun use. 39% to use she/her pronouns. But only because 25% of all employees at Ubisoft are female increased disproportionately large number of women from Ubisoft. At the last 1 % these are people who do this they/them pronouns use. A Better Ubisoft is now hoping that their demands will finally be implemented.
What does A Better Ubisoft ask for?
The group sat down four main changes as a goal to be implemented as quickly as possible. Among other things, A Better Ubisoft demands that known perpetrators are not simply switched from studio to studio and team to team without repercussions. They also want a permanent seat at the table where the future of Ubisoft is discussed.
Collective work is also required to define rules and processes for how Ubisoft studios worldwide can deal with such incidents in the future. In addition, numerous employees outside the management level and representatives of trade unions must be involved in this project. As mentioned at the beginning, none of these demands have been implemented so far.
