Mario + The Rabbids Sparks of Hope will immerse you in a multitude of worlds and universes, free to explore every corner. You will meet a whole cast of unforgettable characters. Some will give you missions to accomplish, others will offer you challenges or puzzles to solve.

But above all else, it’s a tactical and dynamic combat game, with astonishing depth and incredible synergies to discover with our Heroes and Sparks. In this article, you will find a detailed explanation of how combat works, and the many abilities, skills, powers and gameplay options.

TACTICAL AND DYNAMIC COMBAT

Make your way through an avalanche of battlefields. We are carefully preparing “handmade” challenges on themed maps that will put you to the test and test your skills, through never-before-seen tactical combats. Recon in the field, and carefully plan your use of cover and elevated positions.

Barring exceptions, you will select a team of three Heroes for each fight. Real-time battles on a map without predefined positions will challenge you to find the optimal locations; but they will also encourage you to explore all the movement options available: charging, jumping, hiding, throwing an object, and climbing small obstacles.

You’ll use a variety of tools to navigate the battlefield, surround your enemies, and find ways to defeat them. Find and exploit all possible advantages, which will sometimes be the enemies themselves!

Heroes can use different weapons and techniques: Mario’s double shot, Bowser’s explosive projectiles, or even Rabbit Mario’s incredible melee attacks. All of them complement each other and form a synergy in such a way as to encourage innovation.

In addition to weapons, all Heroes benefit from personal techniques. Protect your allies, prepare devastating counterattacks, or put your enemies into a deep sleep!

Depending on the Hero you play or the enemies you face, you have to choose your Sparks carefully. These open the doors to a world of tactical possibilities: assign immunities, or add Super Effects to your many attacks. Clever use of their abilities will really mean the difference between victory and defeat. The more Sparks you save, the more possibilities you will have for future fights.

MARIO AND PULSTAR

The great hero of the Mushroom Kingdom has a new mission, that of saving the Sparks and the magnificent worlds from a terrible galactic threat: Cursa. Mario is still as bright as he is playful. He is instantly recognizable thanks to his blue overalls, his red cap, and his famous mustache. Mario is always ready to act to make good triumph, and to show acts of bravery.

Mario can target two enemies at the same time with his Blasto-Duo weapon, and use his personal Heroic Gaze technique to fire a reaction shot at enemies moving within his range. His Skill Tree allows him to unlock the powerful ability of Crush, and even the ability to shoot enemies during a Team Jump, giving him a tactical boost advantage.

Pulstar is, quite literally, the star of the show, and any Hero in his company can benefit from his radiance. Its power improves the damage done by Heroes within range, for one turn. Shine bright, Pulstar!

PEACH AND PYROGEDDON RABBIT

Always on the lookout for the best social media presence, Lapin Peach is a true diva. A nice explosion would make a perfect story, and defeated enemies would be nice extras. Clean up all that Confusi-Ombre in the frame, please! And don’t forget to follow me here!

Its Trio-offensive weapon fires three times, and hits its targets bypassing or sometimes destroying numerous shelters. But that’s not her only advantage: thanks to her amazing technique, Rabbit Peach can heal her friends within range, and after allocating several skill points, she can even learn the powerful Leap Healer.

She is accompanied by Pyrogeddon. And believe that he is on fire, that one! When his powers are used on enemies within range, they receive flaming meteors on their heads! So try to avoid that, to see…

BOWSER AND NOVARMURE

The King of the Koopas and eternal rival of Mario has had his army stolen by Cursa… and he’s not happy. Bowser joins the Heroes in a fragile alliance, on a quest to exact revenge and reclaim his royal status.

Using his supreme strength, he arms himself with a colossal Bowzooka, capable of throwing flaming rocks and inflicting gigantic damage on surrounding enemies. He can also summon servile, homing Rabbit Mechakoopas, and you’ll find he can learn to create a devastating ground impact when landing after a jump.

At his side, discover Novarmor. When his friends are threatened, he becomes defensive. Pair it with a Hero to gain resistance to physical damage and Super Effects.

EDGE AND VAMPIRUSH

Edge doesn’t compromise: his goal is to save the galaxy, and nothing will stand in his way. Her mysterious past lurks in the shadows, but her sense of justice and her rebellious nature are in full light. Her courage is matched only by her pride, and she won’t give up until the Sparks are freed from Cursa’s horrific clutches.

Armed with her Aero-Blade, she excels in the art of injuring several enemies in a row, and thanks to her impressive Tornado-Blade technique, she will surprise all those who try to approach! With time and experience, Edge will learn how to Charge into multiple enemies in the same turn. Hot in front!

They say you can’t buy your health… but you can steal it! And Vampirush is an expert! Its powers allow you to transform part of the damage inflicted on an enemy into life points recovered by your Hero.

LUIGI AND AQUANOX

Mario’s brother and no less famous Hero of the Mushroom Kingdom is essential when it comes to defending the Sparks against the tireless Spark Hunters. Luigi is instantly recognizable, decked out in his green cap and shirt. He is friendly, a true role model for Lapin Luigi, who considers him the one and only Number 1.

Luigi is excellent with his Sniper-fect. He relies on the distance separating him from his targets to inflict – in comparison to the other Heroes – the greatest amount of damage possible with a single shot. Thanks to his unlockable double jump and extreme mobility, he will always find the ideal position on the battlefield… And when his enemies are within his reach, his Steel Gaze will ensure that they do not come any closer .

By his side, you’ll find Aquanox, always ready to splash! Prepare to be swept away by its waves. Thanks to this little creature, your Hero’s attacks will become watery, and anyone trying to gain ground will simply bounce away.

HARMONY AND CELESPIRITE RABBIT

Rabbit Harmony knows the importance of family and education, so when Cursa threatens her friend Captain Orion, she joins the Heroes despite her severe fatigue. She’s extremely intelligent but doesn’t always see the point of making any effort.

With her weapon the Kaboom she disintegrates the shelters, and thanks to her technique of Boredom, her team of Heroes can take a well-deserved break by forcing the enemies to release the pressure. Over the course of its experience levels, Rabbit Harmony can also learn to Charge on specific enemies, in order to paralyze them.

Would you like to experience the joys of invisibility? Then Célesprit is the Spark for you. While accompanying you, your Hero’s actions cannot be seen by your enemies for one turn. Did you say… “spectral”?

PEACH AND REFLECTOR

The beloved Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom joins the team of Heroes with a specific goal: to free all Sparks and inhabitants of the galaxy from the tyranny of the evil forces of Cursa, in order to live in peace and happiness.

Her famous pink dress is as lovely as it is in perfect harmony with her fantastic Para-pouille, a weapon that can launch a powerful conical attack on the enemy. His Team Barrier technique allows him to protect his allies from attacks, as does his unlockable Barrier Jump ability: two talents to defend his friends in danger.

When Reflector increases in power, enemies have to worry! Thanks to his help, attacks targeting a Hero are redirected directly to the opponent… Ouch!

RABBIT LUIGI AND VENIMA-MEHA

“Adorable” does not mean “defenseless”. Rabbit Luigi may be naive, but he will always fight for his friends by giving the best of himself. He truly admires Luigi, whom he considers a role model and the true Number 1.

Disruptive, sometimes in a childish way, he is seen by enemies as extremely annoying, especially when he targets them from a cover position with his bouncing Disc-collision, or with his Maxi Lazy technique.

Nothing escapes Venima-meha! With its Toxic Wave, poisonous waves spread all around the Spark. This outpouring inflicts damage on surrounding enemies and infects survivors for several turns.

RABBIT MARIO AND GLITTER

This eternal seducer, talented mandolin player, will always be the first to charge the enemy. His courage is matched only by his charm! An intrepid brawler, he prefers to be in hand-to-hand combat with the enemy. Cursa’s army has a lot to worry about.

Rabbit Mario has a pair of powerful boxing gloves, the Tabass-KO, and thanks to the shock waves they produce, even enemies in cover take damage! His Counter technique is triggered if an enemy dares to come and attack him.

Glitter is truly the spirit of the party, which gives him special powers: when he starts singing, the enemy will be drawn in like a magnet. No one can resist his dance steps!
