One title that caught the eye at yesterday’s showcase from Stray publisher Annapurna Interactive was The Lost Wild. Why? Because dinosaurs always go, especially in combination with survival horror.
Annapurna Interactive had quite a few dates and games up its sleeve yesterday. Striking: The Lost Wild. The survival horror title sends you as a reporter in the first-person perspective into a gloomy wilderness teeming with dinosaurs. Guided by a voice over the radio, you explore disused Japanese research facilities and fight for your survival.
To avoid becoming a Dino snack during your explorations, you must sneak, hide, loot, and cobble together non-lethal weapons and items to scare off the dinosaurs and scare them away. According to developer Great Ape Games, The Lost Wild will feature dinosaurs “that act like wild animals, not monsters.” This means the dinosaurs have “built-in self-preservation” and will respond to your defenses like flaming torches and flare guns, rather than pouncing on you like mindless eating machines.
According to their own statements, the developers were inspired by titles such as Alien: Isolation and Trespasser to create the almost ten-hour story. The game is scheduled to appear for PC via Steam, but a release is not expected before 2024/2025.
