Horrible event in Israel: a water hole formed in a swimming pool and carried away a man. Explanations.

After being sucked into this horrible chasm, the man was found dead. As reported Newsweek, the rescue operation lasted four hours before his body was recovered. This is Klil Kimhi, 32 years old. Drowned, crushed, died in full fall: the cause of his death is still unknown.

A video shared on social media, and which you can see above, shows the floor of the pool, located in Karmei Yosef, in central Israel, collapsing underground and sucking up water with it in just a few seconds. If Klil Kimhi lost his life, another man, aged 34, managed to escape unscathed. Six other people were in the pool at the time. Also, to prevent the hole from getting any bigger, research teams from Israel built a support structure. For their part, the police have opened an investigation into the death and into the licenses for the construction of the swimming pool. Suspicions of involuntary manslaughter by negligence hang over the owner, having moreover not asked for a permit before building his swimming pool.

For’U.S. Geological Survey, this kind of sinkhole often forms when the earth below the ground surface dissolves into groundwater and drains away. This then gives way to an open cavern covered with a single thin layer of soil. Sinkholes are common in areas where the rocks consist of limestone, carbonate rocks, or salt beds. Man can also cause their formation. Groundwater pumping and construction practices effectively alter the natural soil structure and water drainage patterns.
