To all those who think that the video game industry can no longer surprise us, think again! Microïds announces that XIII Remakereleased in 2020, will soon have a complete overhaul! It is in the form of an apology that the French publisher admits the failure of this title developed by PlayMagic. Filled with bugs when it was released, XIII quickly fell into oblivion… The patches didn’t do much about it, and the feeling of an unfinished game prevailed.

Never mind, Microïds did not let go, and hired a new developer to take over. Tower Five will now be in charge, with a Switch version in development, and a welcome upgrade on Xbox and PlayStation. This Free update for owners of the game, and a new-gen optimization at the same time, is expected for this year! The trailer for the Switch version, visible below, also allows us to see the progress.

The artistic direction has been completely redesigned, because frankly missed in the 2020 version. But that’s not all! The AI will be reviewed, the sound improved, the hud also, and the multiplayer will be integrated. The latter, online, will allow up to thirteen players to sinter simultaneously. Regarding the Series X | S optimization, we will be entitled to 60fps, unlike the 30fps of the One version.

Admittedly, this upgrade was clearly unanticipated. XIII remains a very good title from a scriptwriting point of view, but the technique of this remake was objectively strawberries… The remake of a remake will say some, but above all an excellent surprise from Microïds. A publisher who has obviously perceived the quality of the title, and who has chosen investment rather than abandonment, and here I say bravo!
