It’s no longer a secret that a new “Tomb Raider” game is being worked on. However, it is still unknown what Lara Croft’s next adventure will be about. A leak could now have revealed the first details.
It has been known for some time that another offshoot of the iconic “Tomb Raider” series is currently being worked on. While both developer studio Crystal Dynamics and the new rights holder of the Embracer Group previously kept silent about the project, a current leak could now reveal the first details of the upcoming action-adventure game about Lara Croft.
A matured Lara Croft taking center stage, allied with other Tomb Raiders?
The information currently circulating goes to PlayStation Leaker Colin Moriarty back, who said he received a voice actor casting script from another industry insider (via TheGamer). Among other things, this probably shows that the development of the game should run under the code name “Project Jawbreaker” and that fans, like in the predecessors, can probably expect a mix of realism and fantasy elements.
In addition, Crystal Dynamics seems to be looking for a new voice actor for the part of Lara Croft. The casting script details include the following: “Authentic British voice actress, in her 30s, 5’6″, athletic.” The most recent three main installments of the Tomb Raider series featured Camilla Luddington (“Grey’s Anatomy”) as the original voice to hear the quick-witted treasure hunter.
In addition, the latest leak should also reveal the first story details about the upcoming action-adventure. Among other things, it is mentioned that Lara has now put her “family drama” behind her, but that loneliness is bothering her. Furthermore, their experiences from the so-called “Survivor” trilogy are said to have now become public and have inspired other people to become grave robbers as well.

In the course of the story, a mysterious disaster is supposed to occur and in order to prevent this, Lara is supposed to team up with other grave robbers. In addition, the heroine is said to have given up the treasure hunt and dedicated herself to protecting artifacts. This is where the supposed information about “Project Jawbreaker” ends.
If the details contained in this leak are actually correct, the “Tomb Raider” series seems to be taking a slightly different direction again. At least it seems like we might be dealing with a calmer, withdrawn Lara Croft. Since this information has not yet been confirmed, you should view it with some skepticism. So far it was only said that the developers had the goal of rebooting the trilogy with the classic offshoots of the franchise to unite.
With “Shadow of the Tomb Raider” the last main part of the series PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC was released in 2018.
