Earlier this week, Apple released a fourth beta version of iOS 16. In this beta, some found functionality that allows the use of Apple Pay with the browsers Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Previously, Apple Pay could only be used with Safari if you wanted to buy something on the web.
Apparently this should only work on iOS as the latest beta for macOS Ventura still doesn’t support Apple Pay outside of Safari. This is probably because these browsers can use their own solutions on macOS, while on iOS they have to use Apple’s WebKit.
