Will Google Stadia be switched off in the next few months? According to the tech company, there is no truth to this claim. Instead, work continues to bring “great games” to the platform.

A rumor has been circulating for the past few days that Google Stadia will be disabled by the end of the summer. This claim comes from a Facebook group by user “Donny Jepp”, who allegedly had contact with a Google employee. The rumor was then picked up by the Twitter user “Killed by Google”:

Rumors were already doing the rounds

He would like to have learned: At a seminar in California, the technology company is said to have discussed the exit plan for its streaming service. It is therefore planned to switch off Google Stadia by the end of the summer. In any case, this assumption made the rounds and was discussed on both Reddit and Twitter.

Because of this rumor, a Twitter user asked Google personally. And indeed there was shortly after an answer, which reads: “Stadia won’t shut down. Rest assured that we’re always working to bring more great games to the platform and Stadia Pro. Let us know if you have any further questions.”

Either way, the Facebook user’s statements were inconclusive. He compared the alleged shutdown to the end of Google Play Music, after which users are given a month or two notice. However, users of the music service had several months to switch to YouTube Music. In addition, the subscribers should not be moved to another platform, which was the case with GPM.

There will be a few game releases beyond the summer anyway. For example, “FIFA 23” is coming out on September 30th, which will be available alongside Stadia for all consoles and PC.

Additional Google Stadia news:

In addition to the answer quoted above, Google Stadia made its own Twitter post. In it, those responsible show humor and parody the rumor described. So, after a lengthy seminar in California, the company made a momentous decision: “Long story short, you can now play Wavetale on Stadia Pro at no additional cost until August 1st.”
