One of Apple’s suppliers apparently has problems with quality assurance for camera lenses on the back of the iPhone 14. According to industry insider Ming-Chi Kuo, this should not affect the availability of the new smartphones.

The release of the new iPhone 14 models is within reach, even if Apple is still a long way off from officially presenting the smartphones. However, industry insider Ming-Chi Kuo, who posted interesting news on Twitter, knows that everything is currently going according to plan and that the iPhone 14 will be on the market on time in autumn 2022.

Apple switches to other manufacturers to avoid delivery problems

As Kuo reports, there have been problems with the rear camera lenses manufactured by Genius. However, Apple has transferred corresponding orders to another manufacturer in order to avoid delivery delays:

An order for more than 10 million camera lenses probably went to Largan, a Taiwanese manufacturer specializing in the production of precision lenses. Genius itself wants to fix the cracked lens problem within a month or two. However, if this plan does not work out, Largan can compensate for the loss of production and will take over the corresponding orders from Genius, so that, according to Kuo, a delay in the production of the iPhone 14 can be ruled out.

Various media had previously reported with reference to the analyst that the coatings on the lenses manufactured by Genius apparently had fine cracks and therefore did not meet Apple’s quality requirements. It is rumored that individual models and especially the iPhone 14 Max could be sold out shortly after the release, because Apple’s suppliers probably do not produce enough AMOLED displays for the iPhone 14 Max. It remains to be seen to what extent the companies can still catch up on the existing backlog.
