Recently, we were talking to you about the Halo license in relation to the cooperative and Forge modes that players have been waiting for for a while. This morning it was the Nintendo 3DS port of Halo: Combat Evolved that caught our attention, but now it’s a Bungie designer sharing some old UI concepts originally planned for Halo 5 Guardians and Halo Infinite .
Stunning interface concepts
The work of development and creation around a video game is particularly complex and requires many reflections and other questionings, especially on titles as colossal as the opuses of the Halo saga. Jeff Christy, a long-time designer at Bungie, shared some interface concepts made during the development of Halo 5 and Halo Infinite.
The opportunity to discover a completely different artistic direction with an aesthetic much more focused on 3D. Bungie wanted to offer much more “futuristic” and immersive menus than what was finally offered in Halo 5. The studio wanted to offer a preview of the maps in 3D, community messages in 3D or even the editor of the Forge mode in 3D.

Ditto for Halo Infinite with concepts still focused on 3D interfaces, but much more refined and sober than what was envisaged for Halo 5. The settings menus, choice of outfits or even the TACMAP have been thought out through a whole another artistic direction unveiled today by Jeff Christy. The latter also has an ArtStation page full of very interesting similar concepts to discover and we can only advise you to go and have a look.
